Setsima is a new weekly chat show presented by DJ Mac (Macaire Ndiaye). Each week, DJ Mac invites a new Seereer/Senegambian personality to chat about their life and work (similar to our old Cosaan Seereer programme). This show - which is broadcast in Wolof goes out every Saturday from 17:00 to 18:00 GMT. The Seereer version of this show is Kirinene Ngueelne - which is broadcast every Saturday from 16:00 to 17:00 GMT and presented by DJ Mac. Setsima follows the same format as Kirinene Ngueelne but in Wolof.
On this show, DJ Mac chats with Seereer elder and renowned Senegalese marabout Dib Ngom about his life and work. Dib Ngom was also a former njom (or lamb, Senegambian wrestling) sportman in his youth. Dib Ngom also touches on the history of Senegambia, Seereer history and religion e.g. the ndut rite of passage and the Xooy ceremony. The show is broadcast in Wolof. Professor Ndioro Ndiaye was the Deputy Director-General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). She was appointed Minister for Social Development in 1988 under President Abdou Diouf. Since then, she has held several high profile and ministerial positions from successive administrations. She is a doctor by training and one of the Seereer intellectual elite of Senegal, but was not born in Seereer country. She was born in Bignona (Casamance), in Jola country.

On this show, DJ Mac chats with Senegalese cultural entrepreneur and music producer Samba Diaité - the brains and artistic director behinds Senegal's first all female music band and instrumentalists "Orchestre Jigeen Ñi." DJ Mac also gets the opportunity to chat with the ladies of Orchestre Jigeen Ñi (some of whom the daughters of rather notable Senegalese artists) about their lives and work within the band. In the first section of this interview, Samba Diaité who is also the musical director and manager of the band discusses how he came to setup the band, and what inspired him to setup an all female band in conservative Senegal where previous roles such as drummer was reserved primary for men. The second part of the interview focused on the ladies where they gave us a rendition of their musical repertoire. The band was rehearsing in Dakar for an upcoming performance in Kaolack. The show is broadcast in Wolof and French.
