Tribute to the late Ebou Corr by Sulayman Ndong of Star FM (Gambia) and Ebou Njie
Wednesday Jul 29, 2020
Wednesday Jul 29, 2020
This is a special tribute to the late Gambian historian and broadcaster Ebou Corr by Sulayman Ndong of Star FM 96.6 (Gambia) and Ebou Njie, President of the Ndef Leng Association in the Gambia. Ebou Corr sadly passed away on Sunday, 19 July 2020 in the Gambia. He was a Gambian historian and broadcaster, and the first broadcaster to present Seereer history programmes (in Seereer) at Radio Gambia and Gambia Radio & Television Service (GRTS). He had worked for the Gambian public broacaster for nearly 40 years. He was also the coordinator of the Ndef Leng Association in the Gambia, and the first Gambian to play host to the Agaire and Jambonge Association (a Jola and Seereer organisation founded in Senegal - in remembrance of their ancient blood ties).
The Seereer Resource Centre (SRC), Seereer Radio, and Seereer Heritage Press issued a joint tribute to Ebou Corr on their Facebook pages few hours after his passing, having confirmed his death from a reliable source. Our previous Cosaan Seereer programmed broadcast on Saturday, 25 July 2020 was dedicated to Ebou Corr. Tamsier Joof, the main presenter of that show, and a member of the Ndef Leng Association in the Gambia opened the show with a personal tribute to his late colleague Ebou Corr. Our heartfeld and sincere condolences goes out to his family and the Seereer community of the Gambia, and to all Gambians. He had dedicated nearly 40 years of his life teaching and educating us about Seereer history, and for that we are immensely grateful. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
