Open Mic is a no-holds-barred talk show where you, the listener sets the agenda. Call the show and talk about anything and everything. Callers are not screened. Want to talk about politics, economics, history, social issues affecting the Seereer people of Senegal, Gambia or Mauritania? Whatever it is, call in and make yourself heard.
On this special show, Tamsier Joof is joined by Macaire Ndiaye (DJ Mac) to discuss the rape case of Gambian Foreign Affair senior officer and lawyer Melville Robertson Roberts accused of rape by 5 independent women. For 2 years (from 2019), his friends in power - including the political elite, those in law/judiciary, as well as sections of the Gambian media have tried to protect him and bury the case instead of bringing it to trial. The Gambian authorities are so fearful of bringing him to justice that they declared the case "untouchable" despite the numerous testimonies and evidence presented by his victims. For 2 years, his victims have been denied justice. If you've missed the live show, listen to it again as Tamsier and Macaire delve deeper into the rape case of this disgraced University of Oxford alumni.

Jeetaay : Presented by DJ Mac (Thursday, 28 March 2019)
Friday Mar 29, 2019
Friday Mar 29, 2019
Jeetaay is an informal phone-in, e-mail or text-in talk show where you contact the studio and chat with the presenter about anything and everything. However, for the next few months (as from January 2019), we will be giving a new twist to this show. For the next few months, Seereer Radio's presenters will be bringing up topics on Seereer Radio Presenters' WhatsApp group chat to be discussed each week by all our presenters and special guests.
Our presenters rotate each week and take the role of main presenter. The main presenter will then bring up topics to be discussed by his/her co-presenters. Discussions closes by 15:00 GMT every Wednesday. These audio messages are then edited and broadcast on Seereer Radio every Thursday night at 21:00 GMT. The entire show is by WhatsApp - 100%. There will be little editing prior to broadcasting on Seereer Radio because we want to keep the raw and authentic feel of a typical WhatsApp group chat. We are currently experimenting with some of our shows using WhatsApp. We are one of the first Senegambian radio stations (online or frequency) to use this format -100%. WhatsApp is one of the major messaging services used by most Senegambians. We will be utilising this format once a week for the next couple of months mixed with our usual live broadcast format.
This Jeetaay Show was recorded from 25th to 27th March 2019 and broadcast on Seereer Radio on Thursday, 28th March 2019 at 21:00 GMT.
The main presenter was Macaire Ndiaye (DJ Mac). On this show, the panel discusses the societal, legal and religious difficulties surrounding inheritance in Senegambia and Africa in general.

The entire show was recorded live. We would like to apologise for the background noise. All the presenters who participated in this tribute were calling from different countries such as the UK, USA, Italy and Senegal. The conference call was done via Skype, and as with such technology especially when calling from different parts of the world, there is bound to be some technical problems. We would also like to apologise for the background noise emanating from one of the co-presenters who was in transit during the recording of this show.
During the recording of our previous Jeetaay Show, the news reached us that our colleague Saltigi Biram Pouye passed away. The news was delivered to the team by Tamsier Joof. Following that sad news, the introduction and ending of that show was modified and the show dedicated to the late Saltigi Pouye. You can listen to that show (which is 6 hours long - our longest show ever) by clicking here. Read the podcast notes.
