Jeetaay : Presented by Tamsier Joof (Thursday, 21 February 2019)
Sunday Feb 24, 2019
Sunday Feb 24, 2019
Jeetaay is an informal phone-in, e-mail or text-in talk show where you contact the studio and chat with the presenter about anything and everything. However, for the next few months (as from January 2019), we will be giving a new twist to this show. For the next few months, Seereer Radio's presenters will be bringing up topics on Seereer Radio Presenters' WhatsApp group chat to be discussed each week by all our presenters and special guests.
Our presenters rotate each week and take the role of main presenter. The main presenter will then bring up topics to be discussed by his/her co-presenters. Discussions closes by 15:00 GMT every Wednesday. These audio messages are then edited and broadcast on Seereer Radio every Thursday night at 21:00 GMT. The entire show is by WhatsApp - 100%. There will be little editing prior to broadcasting on Seereer Radio because we want to keep the raw and authentic feel of a typical WhatsApp group chat. We are currently experimenting with some of our shows using WhatsApp. We are one of the first Senegambian radio stations (online or frequency) to use this format -100%. WhatsApp is one of the major messaging services used by most Senegambians. We will be utilising this format once a week for the next couple of months mixed with our usual live broadcast format.
This Jeetaay Show is Seereer Radio's 4th 100% WhatsApp show. It was recorded from 17th to 19th February 2019 and broadcast on Seereer Radio on Thursday, 21st February 2019 at 21:00 GMT.
The main presenter was Tamsier Joof. On this show, Tamsier wanted to discuss the self-hatred of some African Muslims particularly in Senegal - who fake their genealogy by proclaiming to be descended from Arabs in order to get closer to the Islamic prophet Muhammad (what some scholars describe as Islamic legitimacy), and/or give false accounts about the origin of their surnames by claiming that their surnames are Arabic in origin despite it being African.
Date of first broadcast on Seereer Radio : Thursday, 21st February 2019

Panel : Doudou Diouf, Mamadou Fall, Laye Khan Jallow (LKJ), Macaire Ndiaye (DJ Mac), Arfang Bobb, Sulayman Ndong

Open Mike : Presented by Doudou Diouf (Monday, 4th December 2017)
Wednesday Dec 06, 2017
Wednesday Dec 06, 2017
Open Mike is a no-holds-barred talk show where you, the listener sets the agenda. Call the show and talk about anything and everything. Callers are not screened. Want to talk about politics, economics, history, social issues affecting the Seereer people of Senegal, Gambia or Mauritania? Whatever it is, call in and make yourself heard. You can also call in to request a shoutout or dedicate a song to family and friends, or to yourself. Why not? You deserve it.
Open Mike broadcast live from Monday to Friday (see Seereer Radio's programme schedule for details). Seating in for Mamadou Fall who usually presents the show on Mondays, Doudou Diouf is joined by Tamsier Joof, Demba Sene and Mamadou Fall to discuss the recent arrest of Adama Mbaye and Ndeye Sonko - two Senegalese nationals arrested in Senegal for their involvement in human trafficking and the slave trade in Libya and other Arab countries. The panel asks: What is it about the African psyche that will allow this heresy to happen?
With ECOWAS Heads of State accepting Morocco's membership in principle to the West African Bloc, the panel also discussed the hypocrisy of ECOWAS in accepting a North African Arabized nation, yet rejecting Haiti's application whose people we share historical, cultural, racial and religious heritage with. The panel asks: Why has our West Africans leaders allowed this to happen? What is the motivation for allowing an Arab League country who we have no racial or cultural relation with yet rejecting Haity who we have close ties with? Is France behind this? What is Senegal's role in this? What role did the Senegalese Muslim Brotherhoods play in this? Are we (Africans) morally weak to allow this heresy to happen? Should the Bloc be dismantled altogether and start a fresh - which serves the interest of Black Africans and Blacks from the Diaspora? If a fellow Black nation like Haiti cannot join, yet ECOWAS in its wisdom decided to accept a non-Black nation like Morocco, should the Bloc be dismantled altogether? Join this controversial discussion.
