All the presenters who participated in this tribute were calling from different countries such as the UK, USA, Italy and Senegal. The conference call was done via Skype, and as with such technology especially when calling from different parts of the world, there is bound to be some technical problems. We would also like to apologise for the background noise emanating from one of the co-presenters who was in transit during the recording of this show.
During the recording of our previous Jeetaay Show, the news reached us that our colleague Saltigi Biram Pouye passed away. The news was delivered to the team by Tamsier Joof. Following that sad news, the introduction and ending of that show was modified and the show dedicated to the late Saltigi Pouye. Open Mike broadcast live from Monday to Friday (see Seereer Radio's programme schedule for details). Seating in for Mamadou Fall who usually presents the show on Mondays, Doudou Diouf is joined by Tamsier Joof, Demba Sene and Mamadou Fall to discuss the recent arrest of Adama Mbaye and Ndeye Sonko - two Senegalese nationals arrested in Senegal for their involvement in human trafficking and the slave trade in Libya and other Arab countries. The panel asks: What is it about the African psyche that will allow this heresy to happen?
With ECOWAS Heads of State accepting Morocco's membership in principle to the West African Bloc, the panel also discussed the hypocrisy of ECOWAS in accepting a North African Arabized nation, yet rejecting Haiti's application whose people we share historical, cultural, racial and religious heritage with. The panel asks: Why has our West Africans leaders allowed this to happen? What is the motivation for allowing an Arab League country who we have no racial or cultural relation with yet rejecting Haity who we have close ties with? Is France behind this? What is Senegal's role in this? What role did the Senegalese Muslim Brotherhoods play in this? Are we (Africans) morally weak to allow this heresy to happen? Should the Bloc be dismantled altogether and start a fresh - which serves the interest of Black Africans and Blacks from the Diaspora? If a fellow Black nation like Haiti cannot join, yet ECOWAS in its wisdom decided to accept a non-Black nation like Morocco, should the Bloc be dismantled altogether? Join this controversial discussion.

It is with great regret that the Seereer Resource Centre (SRC) and Seereer Radio find themselves having to announce the passing of our colleague and old friend Professor Issa Laye Thiaw. Professor Issa Laye Thiaw, also known as Mbañik Caw (his Seereer name, Thiaw is spelled Caw in Seereer) was a brilliant historian and author, and a very proud Seereer and African. A true guardian of Seereer tradition, religion, culture and ethics. He was a gifted and wise man who was always generous with his knowledge and time. The Seereer Community, the Senegambian community, and Africa have lost a great man.
Following the passing of our colleague and uncle - Professor Issa Laye Thiaw on Sunday, 10th September 2017 in Senegal, The Seereer Resource Centre and Seereer Radio teams as well as Radio Ndef Leng Diourbel 96.4 FM came together to pay a special tribute to Professor Issa Laye Thiaw. This two hour tribute replaced the regular Open Mike programme usually presented by Mamadou Fall. Following his passing, The Seereer Centre, Seereer Radio, Seereer Heritage Press and their teams issued a joint tribute published on Seereer Radio's website. You can read the full tribute by visiting this link if you are using a computer or visiting this website (www.seereerpodcast.org). Alternatively, you can check the website links below or visit Seereer Radio's website (Schedule --> Presenters --> Obituary of Issa Laye Thiaw).
Professor Issa Laye Thiaw was not just a proud member of the SRC and Seereer Radio, but a family. We the Seereer and Senegambian community owe it to this great man to help support his works and family by buying his book La femme Seereer which is filled with great information as anyone who have read the book can attest to. We hope when the time comes for us to ask for the community's support in bringing to life the SRCTIW (The Seereer Resource Centre and The Temple of Initiated Women) project, the Seereer community, other Senegambians, Africans and those from the Diaspora will rally behind us and help us preserve the legacy of this man. For those who knew him, this project has been one of his best wishes that he wanted to give to the Seereer, Senegambian, African and those from the Diaspora who were separated from their motherland due to the horrible history of slavery. It is sad that he will not be here to witness the completion of this project, but we can unite and ensure that one of his greatest wishes comes to fruition.
The Seereer Resource Centre, Seereer Radio, Seereer Heritage Press, Tamsier Joof, Demba Sene, Mamadou Fall, Dimlé Sène and all team members of the SRC and Seereer Radio would like to offer their heartfelt and sincere condolences to his family and friends. This is a huge lost as expressed by colleagues.
